Sony A55

I have had my new toy for the last 2 weeks. It was a hard choice to purchase this camera. I have a large collection of Nikon glass and would require re-buying the same focal lengths again. Why did I do it? The video and the size. I was looking for a travel camera, and wanted a bit more than what the D3100 had to offer.

So far I have to say I really like it. I am very impressed with the camera low light capability. Very little grain even at higher ISO. Video quality is also impressive in low light. This is the primary reason I did not buy a super zoom point and shoot. I had looked at the Nikon P100 and the Panasonic FZ100. Both suffered in low light.

So far the only complaint is with the auto-focus noise during videos. Camera should have had a bit more insulation between the mic and motors. I have not used an external mic but plan to. The other issue I have is with the menus. I am use to Nikon and Panasonics. So there may be nothing wrong with the menu system, but seems jumbled to me.

Pros
*Low Light
*Auto-HDR
*Sweep Panoramas
*1080 Video
*Speed 10fps
*Small and light
*GPS

Cons
*Focus noise on video
*Menus

I'll update this when I get back from Mexico in a few weeks. It will give me plenty of time to play with all of it's features.
